The five-member City Council is the legislative body and sets policies for the City of La Center by ordinance, resolution and motions decided by a majority vote. Council terms are four years in length.
"Government’s role is to represent the people, create policy which is fiscally responsible, and conduct itself in a transparent climate which empowers the community to grow.
My intent as a member of the city council is to ensure the health and welfare of the city of La Center as a community. I have brought my family to this town because it still has all the assets a family seeks, safety, health, and fiscal integrity. I am interested in preserving this tact for some time to come. This will mean seeking growth for the town’s expansion and diversification of its tax base. Increasing the industrial land size to create jobs within the city limits. To further grow the town’s size to meet the needs of its residents, and to be fiscally responsible with the taxes collected." Mike Nolan
