"As Mayor of the City of La Center there are challenges and rewards. Our vision is to reestablish La Center's historic goal as a regional center for commerce, transportation, innovation, tourism and livability. To meet this vision our mission is to build a sustainable community that promotes public health and safety, economic growth, diversification, parks and recreation, library services, efficient utilities, appropriate and fair land use administration, and protects the livability, environment, and uniqueness in this historic place. We have worked to expand our urban growth boundary out to the junction to diversify our economy by attracting new industrial and commercial businesses. Careful thought is being given on proposals addressing the impacts and growth to the City by the proposed Cowlitz Casino resort. We look to expand and enrich the recreational opportunities for area children. Accomplishments far outweigh the negatives, for example: C-Tran Connector service being restored to La Center. There is a lot going on and as Mayor, I enjoy the opportunity to talk and listen to the individual citizens and also working with other cities in Clark County to make La Center the greatest place to live and work."
In La Center, the Mayor is the chief executive and administrative officer of the City. He or she is elected every four years by the citizens and is responsible for preparing the budget, directing day-to-day operations, hiring city personnel and working with the council to implement the vision for the City of La Center.
